Iftar

Sharing is caring!

Iftar is a the breaking of the fast at day break. But Muslims break the fast once the adhan of Maghrib is given (which initially at 6.34 PM and later will increase) . These timings depend on when Ramadan Falls.

Since there are no meals during the day the focus is on the iftar or

break fast. In this case iftar is the original break fast since you are actually fasting.!

The thing to note is the essence of Ramadan  that is important  and not just iftar and shopping.

In this month focus on giving charity to Poor and needy. A month to be truthful and honest.

Since there are rules as a Muslim to keep the fast .

There are certain things to break the fast:

  • Lying while fasting
  • Eating or drinking intentionally

So what do Muslims have for iftar?

Well usually they have the following

  • Dates
  • Water
  • Juices(watermelon or any other fruit).
  • Fruits
  • Pudding
  • Noodles

This iftar differs according to the country or place. (You might be in office so it would not be so extravagant  like your home).

It is not important  that the iftar has to be fancy but can be very simple to.The iftar can be a glass of water with dates. Dates are very abundant in quantity  as well excellent  quality  in Saudi Arabia.

Prophet Ibrahim (Abrahim) prayed to the Creator

“OUR LORD, I HAVE SETTLED SOME OF MY DESCENDANTS IN AN UNCULTIVATED VALLEY NEAR YOUR SACRED HOUSE, OUR LORD, THAT THEY MAY ESTABLISH PRAYER. SO MAKE HEARTS AMONG THE PEOPLE INCLINE TOWARD THEM AND PROVIDE FOR THEM FROM THE FRUITS THAT THEY MIGHT BE GRATEFUL”

–Al Qur’an.

That explains the good quality of Dates in Saudi Arabia.

The Iftar in Saudi Arabia is something  special and also the environment  Ramadan creates.

But now days lot people tend to have iftar in restaurants  and hotels. Whilst this is attractive  we should  remember about the poor and needy. An iftar dinner can cost around 30 US $ in good hotel in Bangladesh  or India. But we can profit  more as Muslims if we have it at home for 5$ and spend rest of the money give some poor people iftar.
